Itinerary

DAY 1  Arrival

Transfer and overnight in Sneem. Bike fitting and a short spin to Derrynane.

DAY 2

We take the short spin from Sneem to the beautiful town of Kenmare, from Kenmare we start the Caha Pass climb once we pass through the tunnel at the top of the Caha Pass we leave Kerry and enjoy the amazing decent into County Cork with stunning views over Bantry Bay.

We arrive into the beautiful village of Glengarriff for a well-deserved Coffee & cake stop. From Glengarriff we take the coast road out along the south side of the Ring of Beara with Bantry Bay on our left until we turn the peninsula at Lambs Head and loop around the peninsula to enjoy lunch at Allihies.

After lunch we cycle the north side of the peninsula and make our way back to Kenmare for our 3rd and final stop of the day with 167km done we certainly deserve a little treat! Our last 27km to Sneem sees us joining the Ring of Kerry from Kenmare we cycle our the coast road and over across Kenmare bay to our left you will see what we spent the best part of the day cycling The Ring of Beara.

DAY 3

We start where we left off yesterday back on the Ring of Kerry heading north which is the best way. After coffee we continue along the Skellig Ring to Portmagee and over the bridge to Valentia Island, to experience cycling the Ring. This stunning section of the Ring takes us around the coast by Caherdaniel and over Coomakista pass before descending into the coastal village of Waterville. Shortly after Waterville we leave the Ring of Kerry and join up with the Skellig Ring, now this is rural Ireland at its best. Stunning Scenery with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. We take a coffee stop at the Skellig chocolate factory and stock up on some really nice treats.

After coffee we continue along the Skellig Ring to Portmagee and over the bridge to Valentia Island, with 75km done we enjoy lunch in Knight’s Town on Valentia Island. Post lunch we take the short spin to the islands ferry and cross back to Reenard Point, once landed we saddle up for another back road experience on the Skellig Ring returning to Waterville and we take on the Coomakista Pass from the opposite side, now you definitely need your phone charged for the views of Derrynane, Kenmare Bay and the Bear Peninsula. A super-fast descent into Caherdaniel and just in time for a brief coffee before a 13km spin back to Sneem.

DAY 4

Our shortest day, but definitely not our easiest day… leaving Sneem we head for Molls Gap and just before the top of this climb we take a left turn to Glencar. This is a beautiful spin, totally remote with some stiff climbs over Ballaghbeama Gap, Ballaghisheen Pass.

This is a testing trip so our lunch stop is very special, best Chowder, Fresh Fish, Pastas and deserts in Kerry.

We take in Waterville on our route back to Sneem via Coomakista and Caherdaniel. If you deserve a pint of Guinness this is certainly the night.

DAY 5

You can’t come to Kerry without visiting the Skellig Michael, this secluded UNESCO world heritage site is truly amazing, no surprise the latest Star Wars movie was filmed here. It was also awarded a Must See Worldwide Destination for 2017, from Lonely Planet.
