County Clare, on the west coast of Ireland, has some of the most amazing cycling routes to be found anywhere along the Wild Atlantic Way.
This particular stretch is one of our favourites, taking in two of the country’s most recognizable tourist attractions, the magnificent Cliffs of Moher and the beautiful floral environment of the Burren. This trip is accompanied by a roadside assistance vehicle for cyclists “in need”, and also includes a bike mechanic and a post spin massage therapist.

We take a small unpopulated back road around Quilty, Spanish Point and Milltown Malbay, while all along having the Wild Atlantic Ocean on our left. Our lunch stop today is in Spanish Point before heading onto Lahinch.
The Cliffs of Moher tops the list of “must” things to see in Ireland and the best way to see them is by either bike or boat, and this is exactly what we are going to do today. First we set out from Lahinch and cycle to the top of the Cliffs, once we are finished we will cycle to Doolin for lunch. After lunch we will take the ferry from Doolin pier to explore the Cliffs of Moher from the Atlantic Ocean. When we return to Doolin we will make the short cycle back to Lahinch and overnight.
This is always voted amongst the best stages along the Wild Atlantic Way, stunning scenery with Galway Bay on your left and the beautiful Burren on your right, just magnificent! After lunch in Lisdoonvarna, we take the road around Black Head and on to Fanore and Ballyvaughan.
Ballyvaughan and The Burren.
Today we explore the Burren, taking in the Clare Heritage Centre, the Paulnabrone Dolmen and a walk across the Burren. With a hunger worked up, we head to Newquay to enjoy an amazing lunch in Linnane’s Lobster bar. After lunch we make the short cycle back to Ballyvaughan.
After a leisurely breakfast in the hotel, it’s time to say goodbye and take the return airport transfer to Shannon. Alternative transfers can be arranged if required, price dependant on numbers and destination. Use the Enquiry Form to receive a quotation.
The Golf and Leisure Hotel is situated in the town of Lahinch. This hotel is ideally located at the top of the town, making it an easy stroll to find the bars and restaurants, or to take a walk on the beach.
The Burren Coast Hotel is beautifully located just outside the village of Ballyvaughan. The hotel has great views out over Galway Bay and is only a short walk from the centre of the village.
